The essential text in Plant Anatomy at the graduate level! Ray F. Evert, student of the late Katherine Esau, world authority in the field of her generation, has carried on and updated her legacy to include all latest developments and insights in the relationships of structure and function in botany at the microscopic level. Though exclusively in black-and-white, the quality of print and high-glossy paper crisply show the essentials of what one needs to become aware of when viewing and interpreting even minute details ... and I'm glad to see that the price of the book has come down to a level affordable by our students.

Though I didn't have time to read this book while taking my class last semester, I sat down and read my used copy over the holiday break. Yes, it was that good! As an undergraduate, I felt that this reference would be so important to my botany future that I sold my used copy and bought another beautiful new copy to retain as a resource.

The book - Esau's Plant Anatomy: Meristems, Cells, and Tissues of the Plant Body: Their Structure, Function, and Development, 3rd Edition - has just arrived but it is very good to have all the information in his pages renewed and back in hands almost 30 years after I bought my first volume of the Second Ed, authored by Prof. Esau herself!!! Hope it is as useful and interesting as always!!
